We are a store full of animal lovers so it seemed appropriate that we would create an event that helps our furry friends and companion animals. Since 2004 when we began Dog Days of Summer, we have raised over $15,000 for Seattle / King County Shelters including The Seattle Humane Society and the Doney Memorial Pet Clinic.
The best thing about this promotion is that it's never been more fun to help a animals in need!
During Dog Days of Summer our goal is to raise as much money as we can for local area shelter animals! Each August for two weeks we sell donations through the registers and bring in super swanky merchandise from Dog is Good that is sold with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society.
Does your dog have star power? Each year CityDog magazine looks for dogs far and wide throughout the Puget Sound region to grace the cover of their magazine. A $10 entry fee gets your dog into the running with proceeds benefiting The Doney Memorial Pet Clinic.
In 1985, Dr. Bud Doney saw a need for veterinary care for the pets of Seattle's homeless people and set up a clinic, After Dr. Doney passed away, his colleagues and a trusty band of volunteers continued his legacy by starting The Doney Memorial Pet Clinic. Today the clinic offers services to the city's homeless and to individuals who may not be able to afford veterinary care for their companion animals. Learn more about the clinic here.
Everyone thinks that their dog is the cutest, we know this. So why have a photo contest? Because it's FUN! Each year we get more and more entries into our Facebook Contest for funniest or cutest dog photo. Pictured is Otter Pop, the pug. She won the contest in 2016 with over 80 "likes". She and her owners won a gift basket from Cloudstar and Dog is Good.
