Bakery & Espresso

Back in the days of old pies or pyes, were very different creations from what they are today; the shells or “coffins” were inedible and these pies were filled with savory items like meats and vegetables and were meant to be a main course. One of the first sweet pies documented was in 1390 A.D. in a book compiled by master chefs of King Richard II, presented to Queen Elizabeth. In this book was one of the first documented recipes for what today is modern day apple pie.

All early colonial settlers had of apples in America were crab apples, they brought their recipes and fondness of pie across the Atlantic, and soon, our sweet version of apple pie, found a new home in America!
